Personal Development: Your Thoughts Determine Your Destiny Whether Good or Bad
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on December 17, 2009
Napoleon Hill writes in the book “Think and Grow Rich” that if you can conceive it you can achieve it. Personal Development is a powerful weapon to counteract the numerous negative thoughts that plagues us. Visualization is a great way to retrain your mind to see things as you want them to be. You must be able to tap into your sub conscious mind to cultivate your thoughts. If the path to riches was a marathon, then thoughts would be considered the first step. Thoughts that are contributing to your success will keep failure at bay.You must fill up your mind with positive thoughts through personal development and visualization.
I am not talking about the rah-rah pump it up positivity temporary fix; no I am talking about goal oriented thoughts. I remember when I sold a very expensive product door to door our supervisor always had these meetings that were purely rah-rah pump you up and send you out the door. He really believed that those meetings were the reason that kept us motivated all day long. This concept did not work, because it was one to two hours before you reached your first home to present the product. When you worked on a van, then it might be 4 to 6 hours before you even got a “show”. You had to be able to motivate yourself through personal development by listening to tapes and reading books.
Your goals had to be big enough to overcome the negative thoughts swimming in your head on that long ride to your presentation. The beauty of tasting success is that nothing hurt when you are winning. When your sales are down, then every little thing is a major issue. One on one selling is one of the most transparent forms of selling. Your potential customers can detect fear and doubt and use it to stroke you out the door.
Your potential customers will pick up on your attitude and use it to their advantage. A critical part of the presentation was performing a mattress test in your prospect‘s bedroom. I have personally closed many deals at this point and the rest was just a formality. If you are not sure of yourself, then you would never be able to accomplish this key part of the presentation. Your words move you to action, moving you towards your goals for the future.
If you are unable to move to action to perform a critical part of the presentation, a bad habit will form. The habit of not doing your best will lead to you taking shortcuts. You will no longer attempt to get into the bedroom, your sales would decrease. When you are in a funk amazingly everyone else is to blame for your failure. You would blame the system, the lead or the economy. A habit whether good or bad is formed anywhere from 21-59 days of action so pay close attention to your actions.
Your character of who you truly are to the core is developed by these habits. Your character in turn determines your destiny. If you are not happy where you are in life then change your destiny with your thoughts. Where you are in life can be traced back to actions or in actions taken by you. Negative thoughts will become your future, unless you make a conscious effort through personal development to change. Your destiny started from thoughts, so cultivate your thoughts wisely.
Personal Development Courses
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on December 16, 2009
The number one challenge I see today with personal development courses
is this. There isn’t very many people who combine both critical elements that make for a happy and balanced life. It’s either 100% spiritual or 100% mechanical. But in my experience it’s only when you can swirl those two things together (like one of those yummy swirl ice cream cones) that you have the breakthrough needed to experience success with personal development courses. It takes both to create the results most people are trying to create. When you have too much of either you get all off balance and you get frustrated. So if you’re a die hard “action only! all this spiritual journey shit is for the birds” type of person, try taking a minute to use that thing you have called a heart, get out of your damn head and reflect on why you care so much to take all that action. And if you’re more like, “I’m going to sit in this meditation position and create my life with my mind until I attract the things I want” type of person, try getting off your ass, put out the insence, and DO something to get the stuff you decide will make you happy. Make yourself one of those swirly ice cream cones that has both flavors.
Find the perfect personal development courses that give you both flavors At least try it, if it sucks and you hate it and your life doesn’t suddenly become much more clear and enjoyable, than bag it and go back to what you were doin. That’s the beauty of it all, you and only you, are in control. One more thing for you to pat yourself on the back for. Either way you are, mechanical or spiritual based, you deserve props because believe it or not most people still haven’t figured out that they have the ability to decide… I believe it’s our job, responsibility, and sacred oath, (the ones who are at least somewhat aware and awake to the fact that we DO have the choice) to pass the torch and gently lead other people to that point of self discovery. DO you remember that? DO you remember how empowering it was when you first discovered that you are in total control of your life, your results, and your destiny? Thats where many personal development courses are fundamentally lacking. Heck it might have even been through reading my story of triumph over myself. You can do no greater good than expose another person to that truth…
How will you do that today? Go to Banabu
To your ever expanding success,
Jeff Rogers
P.S. I’m trying to figure out a way to expose more people (A LOT) to that truth and have been for a while…
Steps in Achieving Personal Development
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on December 16, 2009
Personal development is a goal that almost every man on earth is aspiring to achieve. It seems that in order to attain wealth creation, happiness and success, individuals need to focus on themselves first. Based on the experience of many people, triumph amidst adversities is quite hard to achieve if a person is not willing to grow and develop. Whatever your life’s main objective is (whether it is getting rich or achieving utmost health and wellness), it seems that the discipline to go an extra mile and the desire to improve oneself is crucial in achieving your goals. If you have been feeling like you are in a rut lately, it might be a good time for you to look within yourself to see what else do you need to do in order to achieve personal improvement and development.
Many books have been written about personal development and you will see that there is only one thing that such books recommend to everyone who wants to change his or her life for the better. If there is one thing that you need to achieve first in your road to getting rich or achieving health and wellness, it is setting your goals and focusing on them every day. Once you have already come into terms with yourself on what you really want to change or what you want to achieve in your life, then the next step is to put all your efforts in achieving that want or that change. For example, if your goal is to lose weight and be healthier, then you have to set your eyes on ways to achieve your ideal weight while turning your back on things that will prevent you from attaining a healthier body. Only when you have mastered focus will you be able to truly gain development in your personal life.
Not everyone can succeed on his first try. You have to accept the fact that you are bound to fail at least once in your life. Even Superman, with his enormous strength and capabilities, also committed mistakes along the way. The key to personal development is how you respond to failures and obstacles in life. If you are the kind of person who gives up easily, then you surely won’t be able to reach your goals. However, if you are persistent and you learn from your mistakes and failures, then surely you will be able to achieve your goals easily. In relation to this, it is also helpful that you keep on trying until such time when winning and getting things done are already part of your system.
Another important aspect of personal development is learning from the past but not letting it prevent you from achieving your goals, whether it is getting rich, learning investment strategies, or achieving utmost health and wellness. Many people are straddled with the ghosts of their past that they no longer are able to enjoy their present or look forward to their future. Once you are focused on your past mistakes or unhappy experiences, you will not be able to grow.

Does Anyone Need Personal Development?

Even though the vast majority of my clients are business people, I sometimes get to work with young children – by “young” I mean children who have not reached that psychological watershed of somewhere between eleven and twelve years. That’s when a child’s sponge-like open-mindedness begins to close down – as the child moves from being a child into adolescence and onward, God help them, into adulthood.
I have often lamented the fact that the vast majority of children will “grow up” to become “normal” adults. On one occasion, Jack (a fifteen-year-old) explained to me how some of his schoolmates were behaving badly, one or two of them had got into drugs and they had generally become not nice people (they were not his exact words!). Jack concluded, however, “I can’t wait to be an adult because, I assume, that when people become adults all that bad behaviour stops!” Ouch! I had to tell him that that was simply not the case. In general, so-called “normal” adults simply do not know how to behave themselves – it’s not a conscious evaluation of what “behave” means, because years of psychological work has concluded that normal people are incapable of conscious evaluation – they live unconsciously, ceding all responsibility for their behaviour to their automatic subconscious. In effect this means that open-minded children develop into normal, mindless, automatic adults.
Is it possible that we can actually call that “development”? Indeed, what does what does the whole concept of “Personal Development” actually mean?
Personal Development is big business – just Google the phrase and you’ll find out how big! Personal Development accounts for a growing market sector in the traditional publishing industry as so-called self-help and popular psychology books abound. And, yet, the fact of the matter is that, at this very moment in time, there are far more mindless people on this planet than at any time in this planet’s history. Research indicates that the rise of this mindlessness went hand-in-hand with the rise of the nation state – starting with the rise of the Sumarian empire some 3,500 years ago. And, in the intervening period, the tribal way of life – where everyone looked after everyone else – has gradually died out.
As a result, modern “developed” society is one where mindlessness is the norm – that’s why “normal” people can be best described as “normal”. It is a derogatory term – because seven decades of psychological work concludes that normal people are mindless and mad. They invest just about 1% of their energy in doing what they’re supposed to be doing. Their subconscious minds live in the past – but because it’s subconscious, they’re not even aware of it. It’s horrible – and we can see the results every day in the way people treat each other at home, at work and on the international stage.
So why would any child submit to the idea of becoming a normal adult? Is it not normal adults that squeeze the capacity for abnormal unlimited abundance out of our children. After all, it’s perfectly feasible for a seven-year-old to believe that she can be a famous actress or singer, that he can be a world-class footballer, or that they can be astronauts – until parents, teachers and the whole system conspires to try to drag those “unrealistic” dreams back to reality.
So, back to the key question – does anyone need “personal development”? Or should we, as normal adults, be talking about un-developing ourselves? Our children (who will, if nothing changes, inevitably grow into normal adults) have their view of the world the right way around. They experience the moment – the much vaunted “Now” that great minds from the Buddha and Jesus Christ to Tony de Mello and Ekhart Tolle have talked about. Young children are generally not pre-occupied with worry and they do not live in the past. Contrast this with the normal adult whose subconscious is buried in the past, whose conscious is dancing around to the distractive music of constant useless thought – often worrying about the future.
Have you children? Do you want to squeeze the life out of them – an inevitability of mindless normal adult behaviour? You were once a child – how about becoming childlike again? Is it not the case that the normal adult needs some personal un-development? Do we not need to strip away the nonsense that our past-focused subconscious minds impose upon our “life” in the present moment? Should children should be teaching adults – not the other way around?
Humanistic psychologists – those working on the psychology of happiness (and we all yearn for happiness) have long been of the view that adults need to “unlearn”. We don’t need to learn anything new – it is in our nature to be happy, content and focused in the joy of experiencing the here and now. And it is in the here and now that you will truly find peace of mind. Wouldn’t you like that? Wouldn’t you like to be effortlessly happy and successful?
The journey starts here. All you have to do is become, once again, childlike. All you have to do is experience the present moment (with no focus on the past or worry about the future). All you have to do is come to your senses. You have five of them – use them.
Personal Development Planning – A Personal Development Plan to Create A Life That You Desire And Deserve!
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on December 15, 2009
With a personal development plan you can recreate your life. Devising a solid map in building or developing your life requires taking an honest look at your life. If you wish to re-invent yourself, each area of your life must be dissected .Knowing what you wish to alter or modify is how to start the process. You should have a focus for learning a new set of behaviors. Think where you are now and where you see yourself after finishing a goal. A goal is like a finish line where you run forward for the achievement and aim for the prize. In a personal development plan setting goals is the top priority.
It requires a specific and clear intention followed by action. Once you have established your goal, it should be followed with constant behaviors which are helpful to reach that goal. How do you learn new behaviors? You can learn by educating yourself. Looking for knowledge on your specific area of focus is essential for replacing old behaviors or habits with new ones. Plenty of resources exist today for self-help.
On any level, you can find information to teach you how to recognize or make out areas that create problem in your life. If in the process you find yourself overwhelmed, frustrated or just plain stuck, thinking of using a life coach. Life coaches are a great and magnificent resource for success with a personal development plan. They can offer a strong support system. They have information of self-improvement tools and skills to teach them to you. A life coach will give you optimistic or helpful feedback and support you to carry on or continue. Not everyone can do it alone that is why life coaches exist. There is a lot to be said about someone encouraging you on doing something. They can help scrutinize or observe your successes and setbacks.
Whether you choose to use a life coach or not go do it alone, be sure to zero in on your strengths. It is easy to fall prey to loss of self-confidence from not concentrating on strengths. Learn new skills to balance or match your strengths and confidence. It is surprising to know that how learning affects over-all well being. When you create your personal development plan, you need to realize that it is not a magic to happen instantly. It is mandatory to be conscious of your world and how you operate within it.
Daily you must make choices based on your goal. By doing so, gradually the prize does appear. You must also understand that personal development is a life choice. Some people appear content to meander in their world. Still, life is meant for changes. By doing the same thing repeatedly, you will get the same results. Self improvement in life settings and conditions should always be considered relevant and essential. With a good personal development plan you can recreate your life. Identifying the problem areas of your life is the first step. Set realistic goals. Choose actions and behaviors which benefit the goals. Keep up a positive support system. Most of all congratulate yourself for wanting something different in your life.

Personal Development Planning: Building the Foundation Towards Personal Development
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on December 15, 2009
To achieve any form of success, personal development should be on top of one’s priority. You cannot expect growth in your business when you lack certain aspects in terms of personal growth. Hence, the sad reality that only a few among those aiming for success achieve it. Through personal development methods, you might not ensure yourself of success but you can be one step closer to it.
Create Goals As Your Stepping Stone
When it comes to self improvement, goals serve as both your driving force and endpoint. In concept, setting a goal is like building a solid foundation. Hence, it ensures that whatever you place thereafter or what steps you take are supported by that strong foundation.
It might seem obvious at first, after all it is what most self-help books would initially point out. But stressing the importance of a goal is critical to your success. When you have a goal, you are able to determine what actions to take in order to reach that. Accordingly, you will also identify whatever it is you need to avoid so as not to be stopped on your tracks.
As much as you can, set specific goals: monthly, weekly, or daily. This helps keep your focus on what needs to get done for you to become a step closer to achieving your goal.
How Do You Create A Goal?
Now that you realize the importance of setting goals, the next dilemma is to determine healthy goals. It is easy to set goals, but recognizing the important goals is the tougher part. Hence, you might find these tips helpful:1. Think of something, whether short or long term, that you want to achieve or acquire. Hence, you can use that goal towards personal development.2. Devise a plan that will enable you to reach that goal.3. Within that major goal, trim them down to smaller and shorter goals that will serve as steps towards achieving that bigger goal. This assists in the personal development process because it practice discipline in meeting those smaller goals.
Pillars of Personal Development
Depending on your habits, you can determine whether your day to day activities are productive or not. Indeed, our habits control what you do and the way you think. Learn to recognize your healthy habits from those that are not. Then, you can work on improving your unsuccessful habits and turn them into a more productive activity. When it comes to your way of thinking, developing an optimistic outlook could spell success in personal growth. You become what you think about. Also, having a positive outlook in life will enable you to examine things objectively so you recognize the areas in your personal life that need improvement.
Improving Your Self Image
If you have a healthy self image, you do not have to worry about living up to anyone’s expectations. Do not stress out over convincing others but focus on what you need to do instead.
In terms of business, you can get more people to trust you or find you credible when you act like one. Then, surround yourself with people that will help you grow and aim for the same goals as you do. Work only with people that are committed to helping you succeed. When you have a healthy working relationship, you assist in the process of personal development. Also, limiting the amount of negativity within your immediate surrounding improves your own self-esteem and capacity to succeed.Just a few steps to take and keep in mind in your quest to achieve personal development.

Personal Development Planning: Achieving Success With Personal Development
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on December 15, 2009
I am a great advocate of goals and goal setting tactics. However, many times goals can act as a barrier to your success rather than a tool for accomplishing your desires! Why this is so I will try to explain in this article and I will also endeavour to give you the best ways of combating this problem.
Although goal-setting has been proven to help launch you towards the success you desire many people fail to reach their goals and therefore they become a block to their future success. This is because we tend to set up beliefs based on prior experience. If you reach a goal and see the fruits of your labour come to pass you will have positive beliefs about goal-setting. If, on the other hand, you have tried and failed numerous times to reach goals you probably have a very negative view about goal-setting. This view, or belief, will seriously damage any future attempt to reach your desires.
For this reason I believe most of your major goals should be of a personal development nature. By striving to better yourself and your understanding of how your mind works you will eliminate many of the causes for goal-failure!The most common reason for failing to reach your goals lies in over-confidence. Setting objectives that are too high or too far from where you are now, without having a proper, reasonable and realistic plan to reach them is like trying to fish in the Sahara.Goals need to be reasonable. There is nothing you cannot accomplish but in order to get to a place, within yourself, where you are capable of achieving big goals you must set some foundations!
You set the necessary solid foundations for achieving your goals by becoming a person capable of achieving them! This means developing the skills and knowledge you need to attain your desire. An example of this would be setting a goal to be CEO of a company in 2 years when you don’t even work for them! Setting a goal to become a millionaire in 2 years when you currently have no job is equally as unrealistic! You should start with stepping-stone goals. They should be easy enough to achieve but should require some work on your part. At the same time you should set personal development goals that help you improve as a person. For example, you should set a personal development goal to find and eliminate all the negative beliefs you hold about achieving your objectives.
Harbouring negative beliefs, thoughts and emotions that impinge upon your goals is always a major reason for failing to achieve your objectives. Goal-setting and personal development should always go hand-in-hand!
By developing a strong character and belief in yourself, your abilities and your deservedness to reach your goals is a strong defence against doubt, fear, the desire to give-up and failure!
A great personal development way to reach your goals is visualization. Most people fail to understand the awesome power and effectiveness of this very easy to use technique. It is important that YOU do not get caught in this mindset. In your mind’s eye imagine what it will be like when you have already achieved your goal. Muster up all the positive feelings that you will experience when this mental movie is reality. Step into that image in your head and feel it as though it were reality now. Through simple visualization tactics you can ensure you stay motivated in your goal-achieving activities. You will have seen, felt and experienced the very thing you are working towards and you will also increase you belief in the possibility of attaining it!Use goals in this way and you will be assured of success while at the same time bettering yourself in every area through personal development.

Personal Development Planning: Personality Development
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on December 14, 2009
An individual’s personality is an aggregate conglomeration of decisions we have made throughout our lives. There are inherent natural, genetic, and environmental factors, which contribute to the development of our personality in the pursuit of a more defined person, many individuals enroll in courses offered in colleges to further or enhance the image they intend to project to others. These classes help in identifying your conscious traits and contrasting them with what you intend to exhibit. Hereditary factors that contribute to personality development do so as a result of interactions with the specific social environment in which people live. In other words, personality is the sum total of what a person is – behaviors, thoughts and feelings- that endure throughout life.Personality Development ConceptsDrives: The two basic drives- sex and aggression- motivate all our thoughts and behaviors. They are referred as eros (love) and Thanatos. Eros represents the life instinct where sex being the major driving force. Thanatos represents the death instinct; this allowed the human race to procreate, whilst at the same time eliminating our enemies. The structure of personality: It is believed that the mind as only having a fixed amount of psychic energy (libido). The outcome of the dynamic interaction between the id, ego and the superego determines our adult personality. The tripartite personality: Personality has three basic things – the id, ego, and superego- referring to this as the tripartite personality. The id allows us to get our basic wants met. It is believed that the id is based on the pleasure principles ie it wants immediate satisfaction, with no consideration for the reality of the condition. As the child interacts more with the world, the ego begins to develop. The ego’s job is to meet the needs of the id, while taking into account the constraints of reality. The ego acknowledges that being impulsive or selfish can sometimes hurt us, so the id must be constrained. The superego develops during the phallic stage consequent to the moral constraints placed on us by our parents. Defense Mechanisms: The ego has a very difficult time trying to satisfy both the needs of id and the superego and so, it employs defense mechanisms. Repression is the most powerful of these. Repression is the act by which unacceptable id impulses are “pushed” out of awareness and into the unconscious mind. Psychosexual Stages: It is believed that at particular points in the child’s development, a single part of the body is particularly sensitive to sexual stimulation. These erogenous zones are the mouth, anus and the genital region. At any given time, the child’s libido is focused on the primary erogenous zone for that age. As a result the child has certain needs and demands that are related to the erogenous zones for that stage. Frustration occurs if these needs are not met, but, a child may also become overindulged, and so may be unwilling to progress beyond the stage. Both frustration and overindulgence may lead to fixation- some of the child’s libido remains locked into that particular stage. If a child is fixated at a particular stage, the method of obtaining satisfaction that characterized that stage will dominate his adult personality.
