Steps in Achieving Personal Development
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on December 16, 2009
Personal development is a goal that almost every man on earth is aspiring to achieve. It seems that in order to attain wealth creation, happiness and success, individuals need to focus on themselves first. Based on the experience of many people, triumph amidst adversities is quite hard to achieve if a person is not willing to grow and develop. Whatever your life’s main objective is (whether it is getting rich or achieving utmost health and wellness), it seems that the discipline to go an extra mile and the desire to improve oneself is crucial in achieving your goals. If you have been feeling like you are in a rut lately, it might be a good time for you to look within yourself to see what else do you need to do in order to achieve personal improvement and development.
Many books have been written about personal development and you will see that there is only one thing that such books recommend to everyone who wants to change his or her life for the better. If there is one thing that you need to achieve first in your road to getting rich or achieving health and wellness, it is setting your goals and focusing on them every day. Once you have already come into terms with yourself on what you really want to change or what you want to achieve in your life, then the next step is to put all your efforts in achieving that want or that change. For example, if your goal is to lose weight and be healthier, then you have to set your eyes on ways to achieve your ideal weight while turning your back on things that will prevent you from attaining a healthier body. Only when you have mastered focus will you be able to truly gain development in your personal life.
Not everyone can succeed on his first try. You have to accept the fact that you are bound to fail at least once in your life. Even Superman, with his enormous strength and capabilities, also committed mistakes along the way. The key to personal development is how you respond to failures and obstacles in life. If you are the kind of person who gives up easily, then you surely won’t be able to reach your goals. However, if you are persistent and you learn from your mistakes and failures, then surely you will be able to achieve your goals easily. In relation to this, it is also helpful that you keep on trying until such time when winning and getting things done are already part of your system.
Another important aspect of personal development is learning from the past but not letting it prevent you from achieving your goals, whether it is getting rich, learning investment strategies, or achieving utmost health and wellness. Many people are straddled with the ghosts of their past that they no longer are able to enjoy their present or look forward to their future. Once you are focused on your past mistakes or unhappy experiences, you will not be able to grow.
Personal Development And Goal Setting
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on December 7, 2009
One of the best ways to go through personal development is with goal setting. Setting goals is one way to not only gauge where we want to go to, but also allow us to look back on where we been. As you read this article, you will discover how to use goal setting with personal development.
We have all heard at least 1 life coach, in a seminar, in a book, on a teleseminar or on the web, talk about goal setting. Goal setting seems to be such an important subject, and we can see why.
In personal development, you can develop many different areas of your life. After all, personal development is all about developing you. So, whether it is with communication, your business, finances, relationships, or even health, a goal is important.
I once heard someone say that it is a good idea to set a goal before reading a book or going to a seminar. This makes so much sense. So few people do it, and we can see why a goal is essential.
A book could take you a day to read, it could take months, but the whole point is to get something out of it. So, we pick up a book that will help us become an expert about something. We go and read it, and now have the knowledge, but it is so hard to apply.
We have gained the knowledge, but need the practical. Something happens when you set a goal before reading a personal development book. Suddenly you know what you want out of reading that book, attending the seminar, etc.
As you read, you apply that information to your particular need. Now personal development is taken into full swing. As you read, you discover a practical knowledge.
As an example, in my own experience, I have found this true with something as simple as the dictionary. We all have a dictionary or at least should do; it helps us learn new words.
As I began to start writing to you some time ago, I realized that a dictionary is one of my best friends. I refer to the dictionary often, especially when I know a word, but don’t fully know it. Now, I have a goal, but I can imagine there are some people out there, who will read the whole dictionary just for the knowledge.
Personal development is great, but without the need for that development, what use is it? I say this, because I have been to many seminars, and met lots of people in personal development, who go to seminars, just to add to their stock of knowledge.
Knowledge is great, but personal development is all about development. When you can take personal development and your wants and needs, and then go forward with personal development, with a goal, you get maximum benefit of personal development.
Personal Development : Being A Better Person
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on November 26, 2009
The benefits of and growing as a person and making constant expansion is an innate part of us as human beings. All of us want to grow more and more and one’s definition of personal growth along with a list of personal skills for use in your personal development is of paramount importance. Reaching your potential personal and professional development becomes more and more important as time goes by as everyone wants to get better in his or her life in every way possible.
Now when considering one’s personal development, looking at wanting or having more with a list of personal skills does not necessarily make you better. To become a better person you need to get better inside and in reaching your potential personal and professional development quicker that you otherwise would have. You need to improve your inner self. Personal development helps one to become a better person and the our definition of growth is one of the first things to get defined.
Taking on personal development is a serious task. To make the world a better place (reaching your potential personal and professional development) we have to start with ourselves first. When your ideas, habits and attitudes change for the better, you could help others live their lives better. Though it sounds simple, it takes a lot of effort on your part. If it is so easy then why aren’t others trying to become better? The theory of Self-actualization states that in order for human beings to grow to a higher level, they have to get their basic needs satisfied. The basic needs of a human being are: physiological, safety, acceptance or belonging, self-esteem and self-actualization. Let us see why these factors are important in helping us to become better persons.
o Man’s physiological needs are food and water, i.e. basic survival. If you are starving and not having enough food and water to take care of your hunger and thirst, where would you get the strength from to think about becoming better? Only when you physiologically satisfy these needs can you think about your psychological hunger and thirst for self-knowledge. Your basic survival needs take the first place in your life and then your personal development.
o One has to ensure his personal safety above everyone else’s security. If you do not feel safe in your personal life, how can you try to bring safety to others? Your constant fear would not make you think about others.
o With personal development acceptance or a sense of belonging is another essential need for human beings. We need understanding and love from our family and friends and the society we live in. This acceptance will make us think of doing good things for the people who accept us and in that process we become a better person.
o The need for self-esteem along with a list of personal skills – once you are a recognized person among your people, you believe that they respect you. This feeling promotes power and prestige in you. To maintain this self-esteem you would do good deeds to better their lives. This in turn would reflect on your goodness. People would recognize you as a better person among them.
o Finally, we all have a definition of personal growth and when you satisfy most of the above needs, the concept of Self-Actualization will dawn on you. With a satisfied hunger, security, acceptance and power, you want to develop stronger ties with others. You rise above yourself, in the sense you start giving more importance to other peoples’ needs and wants. You believe in being committed to a greater cause than yourself.
Once you enter the doorway for self-realization you would eventually learn to put other people ahead of you in life and you become a better person, naturally!
When is comes to personal development and our lives, the reality is that you can be whoever or whatever you choose to be, if only more of us would believe and act upon this then we would not have the level of apathy and the situation we see in our society.
The Heart Of Personal Development
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on November 23, 2009
What is the heart of personal development? Have you started hearing about personal development, and it sounds interesting? Has it aroused your curiosity? Is personal development showing you more possibilities?
The heart of personal development is growth. There is a fundamental law in the universe that says either something is growing or if it is not, then it is dying. For many education ends when school finishes, either on the day at school or when they say you have either passed or failed. Then we go forward feeling really good, ok or like a big failure!
Where for so many people, and for so long, this used to be the norm, personal development is changing that. Education does not need to end when formal schooling ends. You don’t have to be doomed either with the corporate ladder or a laboring job.
Personal development is not about knowledge, though some people in personal development keep it as such. Personal development is about giving you the skills you need to meet a specific objective.
The first step on the journey through personal development begins with goal setting. Setting goals is so crucial as it helps you get clear on what you exactly want in life. This is important, as without knowing what you want, no personal development course can help you. You must know what you want, and utilize deeper understanding and more advanced courses of personal development to achieve what you want.
The journey of personal development is a long one with no end. As all people are different, yet the same – no personal development course can make a one size fits all type of course. Your journey is your journey, and though you may need to goal set at this time, another may need to tackle limiting beliefs. Likewise if you need to break limiting beliefs first, another may need to start on goal setting.
This makes goal setting an ever more important reason to learn how to set goals first. Without knowing how to set goals, then you can’t know what you need to get there. Without a goal setting strategy, and personal development, you may not be able to find that limiting belief, and ultimately pluck it out. Personal development courses, books, and seminars can help with all of this.
More wealth, more health, more success and happiness are some of the benefits of taking the personal development path. You can grow to become a better human being or at least the person you always wanted to be.
For some the courses, the books and seminars are not enough to meet there needs. Life coaches are people who help on a more personal level to find the answers you seek. Whereas a course or personal development book may not answer all your questions, the life coach in most cases can.
Whatever your needs, a life coach, a product, a personal development book or seminar exists that can truly change your life. When you can know what you want, and how to find that information, and carefully, and persistently apply it, you will achieve.
There exists a better world. A world that has the better version of you. The bridge to get there is personal development through personal growth. Personal development is getting bigger, and it benefits you with more products and coaches that may just help you cut the time to get there.
Personal Development – Break Through Barriers and Achieve the Impossible
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on October 3, 2009
Grow revenues, increase profits, develop more products, improve customer service, reduce costs, increase prices…and you must work on all these items in your business at the same time. Do any of these items bear resemblance to your 2008 goals?
The first quarter of the year is ending, and now is a good time to reflect on the progress you have made toward reaching your business (or personal) goals.
Right now, do they seem impossible to reach; are you losing your grasp on them? How about considering a new approach to your goal planning?
I have found over the years that many people don’t like planning. They don’t even like mention of the word! Planning means work; hard work. People mean well, but it’s so easy to get distracted by the daily challenges of our work and home lives.
Maybe there’s something deeper at work if you haven’t made satisfactory progress toward reaching your goals. Could it be that your goals aren’t exciting to you? Maybe they’re too abstract, or perhaps you’re not the type of person that’s passionate about “profits”, etc. You might even harbor self-beliefs that it’s impossible to achieve your goals.
Most goal planning programs suggest you set a probable goal with interim milestones to keep track of your performance (think monthly or quarterly). Even though I emphatically condone this method of achieving outcomes, I want you to stretch yourself and think about accomplishing something that you currently think is impossible. Is that exciting to you? Does it make your heart race? Good!
Now, I’m not talking about doing something humanly impossible, like flying off a building with mechanical wings. What I am asking you to do is look at areas in your life where you’ve become resigned that your ideal desired outcome or “way of being” is impossible. These places could be your business, your job, or even personal issues. You might think the task is physically or mentally impossible for you to achieve, you’ve made up your mind this just can’t be done (by me)! Examples of such things are:
1. Double your sales or income this year.
2. Lose 20 pounds
3. Go on a 4-week vacation
Before you can achieve the seemingly impossible, you must break through the barriers of resistance that tell you can’t achieve something. This powerful “shadow belief” is sabotaging your ability to successfully achieve your goals. So, let’s eradicate them!
To break through the barriers of resistance you are feeling, you first have to do some simple research about what you want in your life, in a business or personal sense. Ask yourself the following questions:
1. “If I had more time, I’d…”
2. “If I could I’d…”
Finishing those statements gives some substance to things you want to accomplish, but may seem impossible because of current circumstances in your life. The actual activity on the surface may not seem impossible, but, if I asked you about making plans to do them, you’d stammer something like, “There’s no way I could do that!” But, other people do these things, right? Somehow, they accomplished the same things you desire, and I bet you’ll agree with me it probably wasn’t simple or easy for them. Undoubtedly, they first had to have a vision of what they wanted their life to look like, and they had to overcome the internal barriers holding them back.
ACTION POINT
Describe your ideal vision about what you want your business or personal life to look like in the next year, how you want to “be”. Describe it in as many ways as you can see it. What changes will you see in your life when you accomplish your vision?
This is a great first step to take, because it helps you become aware of what you want. It’s almost impossible to achieve your dreams and visions if you haven’t articulated them clearly in your mind. By creating a clear vision of what you want, even if you think it is impossible right now, helps to set you on a path toward accomplishment. Why? Because half the battle is breaking through the resistance, you may currently feel about the impossibility of your goal and vision.
Even if you don’t achieve your goals exactly as you defined them in the next year, by playing the game with passion, and a desire to win, you’ll certainly make progress toward achieving your dreams. After all, a championship tennis player doesn’t know if he will win every major tournament. But, like any champion, when they lose a game, they continue to play and reap the rewards.
What do you think is impossible? Go for that in 2008.

However is it possible to improve yourself without putting in any effort at all?

To develop any part of your life with minimum effort you will need to bypass your conscious mind and connect to your subconscious mind. Our conscious minds receive messages and based on and logic either rejects or accepts it continuously. However our subconscious mind do not judge in this way, any information that makes it to the subconscious mind is accepted at face value. You beliefs may change, your habits may too, even your immediate external behaviour.
There are several ways to reach your unconscious mind. Hypnosis is perhaps one of the most traditional methods. Although hypnosis has an excellent success rate it is often very expensive, and time consuming, and even a hypnosis cd requires you to sit and listen to it for at least 30 minutes, and enter a deep trance.
There is another method you can use – the power of subliminal messaging. This is like a mild form of hypnosis, so the benefits may take a little longer to realise, however it is affordable, and accessible, and you don’t have to enter a trance. In fact the best part of using subliminal albums is that the process of sending information to your subconscious mind really is EFFORTLESS. How Personal Development And Goal Setting Go Hand In Hand
Posted by pintpuller in Personal development on September 28, 2009
Often personal development and goal setting can seem like they are totally different things. It may seem like personal development is for growth, while goal setting deals with your material goals. As you read this article, you will discover how goal setting and personal development go hand in hand with goal setting to make your goals reality.
Whatsoever you desire, you can achieve. So, you set along a path of setting a goal, and then taking action.
As you continue, you discover something. That something is growth and learning. After all, it is likely that you will set long term goals, for goals which you have never achieved before.
The key then becomes growth and personal development. Personal development is an essential component because it is about developing you and goal setting because you have a destination in mind.
An example is perhaps important to show how this can apply practically. Let’s say for example you intend to start a business. You may have never started a business before, and now you are about to start.
If your goal is to become financially free, for example make a million dollars in that business, then you will see that development is needed. You can not earn a million dollars until you develop yourself.
This looks like when you learn how to drive. There is a need to develop yourself, and grow. You need to do things in a different way, and need to focus on new things. Unlike a passenger, you need to stay focused not only on the road, but also what is going on outside of your vehicle, and not to mention also having to drive!
Goal setting is a process, and it can easily catch us out. We can get stuck in thinking that goal setting is all we need. That having a goal will allow you to find a way. Though this is true, it is not always so in practice.
Imagine public speaking, a singer or anyone that has to perform to a big crowd. We know that public speaking is not the easiest subject to perform. In fact many people would rather die than speak on stage!
Personal development then becomes an essential factor in any person, who is looking to get on stage and communicate with possible 1000′s of people. Likewise the goals you set will likely need a change of some kind.
This change, this personal development is fully possible. And now we find why personal development life coaches often speak about goal setting. You can’t develop yourself without having a set goal.
A great way to follow through is to apply. And the application is very easy. All it requires is having that goal set before you do anything. Whether that is reading a book, going to a seminar or trying to become a world class athlete – first set the goal, and then take the action.
